Development of a Pest Management Plan

Reference Number: BCER OSRF PMP 2024-2029

The BC Energy Regulator (BCER) is developing a Pest Management Plan (PMP) with the purpose of controlling noxious and other unwanted vegetation on BCER Orphan sites using the principles of integrated pest management, including cultural, mechanical, and chemical.

This five-year (2024-2029) plan will cover all BCER Orphan sites within the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality and Peace River Regional District. These sites can be viewed on our Orphans Site map.

Equipment to be used under this management plan includes mowers, tillage equipment, backpack, wand, wick, and boom and/or boomless nozzle spraying equipment. All applications will be ground-based.

Free Access to CSA Standards

Canadians now have free, online access to important technical standards meant to keep pipelines safe. The BC Energy Regulator (BCER) is part of a group of energy regulators in western Canada that worked on the initiative, providing free access to several CSA safety standards, including CSA Z662, the main safety standard for designing, building and operating pipelines in Canada.

2023/24 - 2025-26 Service Plan published

The British Columbia Energy Regulator's (BCER) service plan, which outlines strategic priorities for the organization, was published Feb.28, 2023.



BRFN Agreement - Rules for Oil and Gas Development

Following the provincial announcement on Jan. 18, 2023 of an implementation agreement (Agreement) with Blueberry River First Nations (BRFN), the BC Energy Regulator (BCER) and Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation (Ministry) are jointly releasing further information about the Agreement and specific to the petroleum and natural gas industry.
